I weighed 139 pounds as I rode the white bus to Varner that day. I can still hear the sound of the shackles on the metal floor when we took the bumpy ride there. I was headed to a place I knew nothing about, but would spend the next 28 years of my life… I felt like crying that day, but a wise man told me „I wouldn’t to that, youngster.“ After broken bones, scars, and chipped teeth, I just want to say that I’m still standing. If you went through a similar experience, I tilt my hat to you, cause we have no found common ground. And if you find yourself falling into similar situations today, please hold on. Remember this, you have no clue how strong you are until being strong becomes the last option left. Make no mistake, your strength will be found in the mist of your struggles.
