If you do what I did, you will end up in prison. But if you can bring yourself to listen, then you may just find some success in life. Why listen to anything a prisoner has to say? I understand – I used to be where you are now, at a crossroads in life where every decision is paramount. Feeling too old for what you used to do, and too young for what you are going to do. I have learned many lessons in life that could benefit the youth, if applied. Therefore, I feel a responsibility to share at least some of that knowledge. I want to share the importance of pursuing one’s passions, being patient, and talking with people who have achieved similar goals as yours.
Of the three life lessons I mentioned, I would like to begin with the one I feel is the most important: pursuing your passions. I believe this one is the easiest to apply. Be passionate in your pursuits. Whether it is work or leisure, if you are pursuing something that you genuinely have an interest in and care about, then you are more likely to succeed in those endeavors. You will find yourself highly motivated, more successful, and have an overall enjoyment for the things you choose to do in life.
The next life lesson is almost as important as the previous one, and, in some cases, more important. Having and practicing patience is essential in life. In some pursuits if you act too early, you can ruin any chance of success that you had. Patience inspires wisdom and provides you with precious time to think things through. Think before you act or speak, do not be hasty. If I would have exhibited more patience, then I probably could have avoided incarceration.
The last lesson I would like to share is unique in that it can expedite your efforts in achieving your goals. If you have a goal in mind but have no idea where to begin or how to complete it, then research and contact someone who has done what you are trying to do. Rarely do we pursue something revolutionary. Usually, a precedent exists. Someone has already done it. Picking the brain of the person can shorten the learning curve, allowing you to reach your goal more efficiently.
Apply these three life lessons, which presents another lesson. Application. Take time to think things through. Find enjoyment in the things you do. And if ever you need help, ask someone. Plenty of people in this world are willing to help you.
