A CHANCE TO WIN

Once upon a time, there was a young fool
He thought he was the greatest, so, so cool
He believed he was immortal, unstoppable, a juggernaut
So, he ignored everything his elders taught
Years passed by, many days wasted and lost
He spent over a million dollars, but that was only a small part of the cost.
He slowly sold his integrity, and incrementally
sacrificed pieces of his soul
Now he is a shell of a man, anything but whole.
Finally, nothing remained, but a shell
And they locked that remanent away in a cell.
He looked through the bars and wished for his life back
The one he could have had, before he drank it all out of whack.
Now he sits alone in a crowd, alone in hell
There are people around, but he is lonelier than a solitary cell.
Day by day, he hopes and prays for pieces of himself.
He sends wishes to heaven, that he is not permanently stuck on the shelf.
He hopes he may one day, be whole again
That despite all his losses, he gets another chance to win.
