The illusion of justice is played out on TV shows and social media every day. Thus people are misled to believe that the justice system protects you from being unjustly convicted and/or that lawyers really fight for you in the court room to protect your Constitutional Rights. People believe criminal attorney’s in real life fight just as hard as the lawyers they see on Law and Order. If you are one of those people, you have a lot to learn.
The truth of the matter is, personal injury and most divorce lawyers only get paid of you get paid, so they don’t take your case if they don’t know they can win. Defense Attorneys on the other hand get paid whether they win a case or not. Moreover, cases are forced upon them. To make matters worse, most court appointed attorneys don’t communicate with their clients and file and/or argue standard claims whether they have merit or not. Other criminal attorneys talk a good game until they get you in court or until it’s time to file a legal brief on your behalf. At that point in most cases attorneys become silent in court and let the state paint whatever picture they chose to, to ensure your incarceration.
This is a planned tactic that is commonly conducted by the court, the government and most defense attorneys especially those appointed by the court. With that said, not all attorneys are bad, but I can guarantee you 80% of them are not necessarily bad, but just aren’t passionate about helping you. The truth is most lawyers, the government and the courts only do what’s right when the world is watching and forced to do their job. Don’t take my word, look around you, the proof of this is played out every day in the media. George Floyd, Brittney Garner, Freddie Gray, or Breonna Taylor wouldn’t have received the justice or/and freedom they deserved if their situation wasn’t constantly in the public eye and receiving public support. Adnan Syed was in prison for murder for years and it wasn’t until the first season of the podcast “Serial” that he became famous and his case was overturned.
Bottom line, if you’re out of site, you’re out of mind. And when you’re out of site there is no justice only the illusion of justice. Justice only comes when we the people make it happen.
