The more impenetrable you think your armor is,
I can see your fragility.
I can see the broken promises,
The scathing disloyalties,
The emotional scars,
And the sadness in your amber eyes
Be killin’ me.
I’ve been trying to acquaint
You with my love and my peace.
But you keep resisting this relief,
Because my too distant release
Is causing you agonizing grief,
And you want the Big Fella now,
You can’t just settle of a piece… Sheeesh!
But don’t trip tho.
I think there’s a way for
Us to capture this moment.
I learned to never take love
For granted, so if love is out there
For the takin’
You have to act like you want it.
And I want it!
But you have to change the
Way you view time.
Because of you only focus on
How tall a tree is,
And doubt yourself,
You’re not able to put
The necessary passion in
The climb.
I’m talkin’ bout process baby!
We have to work hard for what we want.
Am I suppose to pursue you
With vehement ferocity,
And fully display my desire,
While you breath life into phrases
Like I can’t … I WON’T…
And I DON’T?
Nah, that’s basic and mediocre,
And we’re too grown for that.
All of my steps toward love
Are made with conscious consistency,
And I can bring this energy
All the time.
Don’t be that girl
Who stands in the forest,
Lookin’ up at the leaves
But too scared to make the climb.
