The last time I held you
Time seemed to fly by.
I would lose myself in your eyes
And try to create my own reality.
When we kissed,
It was like adding oxygen to embers,
We’d ignite into a passionate blaze
That would raze the boundaries of our concrete maze.
When we burned white hot,
You cautioned me: If we keep moving
This fast, blindly zooming passed our past,
Any feelings we could amass won’t last,
And all of the pleasures we’re experiencing
Will evaporate into thin air like water
Inside uncovered glass.
I pretended to respect your assessment,
But I’m insatiable – and
My incandescence craves your
Mind, body and your essence.
Please allow me to tenderly caress it.
I know you said slow down,
But baby let me test it.
Let me explore the contours of your flame,
And when I reach the magic button,
Let me press it…
Yes! Yes! Yes! I heard you confess.
But long before our climax,
I was arrested and you were
Snatched from the clutches of my grasp.
Now all I’m left with is memories
And a lost love that didn’t last.
I should’ve listened to freedom when she said we were moving too fast.
