I lay on my bunk,
staring at the ceiling,
I sigh at the thought of
a 31 year sentence.
I lose myself in my mind,
trapped in my thoughts
to not face reality,
some days are hard,
I can’t breathe,
So much pain,
going numb,
struggling to make it through the day,
Losing all hope,
All I want to do is quit,
will I ever walk out or
stay locked behind these gates,
I feel all alone,
family moving on,
nobody understands me,
will somebody wake me from this nightmare
called prison?
