On the night of a full moon
I’m on my way to find a coon
Not too long and I’ll have one soon
As the dogs begin to bark
They can smell him in the dark
He climbs up high in the tree
And there’s nowhere for him to flee
When I hit him with the light
There’s no way for him to put up a fight
With his two black eyes, he looks like a bandit
When my dog sees him, he just can’t stand it
As he comes down the tree, he jumps on the back of my dog
And takes off running down a log
I’ve never seen a coon in such a hurry
My oh my, how fast he can scurry
Maybe another time and place
Me and that coon will come face to face
He might be the one that got away
But hey! What can I say
For now he is the winner
But next time he will be for dinner.
