I am fading smoke in darkness
The lost remnants of a silenced candle
Defiant against this encompassing void
I hold on like its lingering scent
Yet humanities heat is fading
Leaving my heart but a hardened way
Now feels painless the smouldered light
Where hope was a dancing shadow
For all I am is memory
A distant dream to dreamers
Although I may waff in obscurity
I am ever warmed by nostalgic flames
NOTE: This poem was made after a situation escalated when I spoke up for a young prisoner who was being harassed by the officers. After this conflict I was thrown in a filthy cell, with absolutely nothing, for days. Not being fed for that same duration of time. Repeating this poem I made (in that cell) gave my mind something to focus on besides the cold and misery.
