For all living things there’s Wakan Tonka, The Creator
To the universe he is the mediator
Father sky makes the sun shine and the clouds cry
Mother earth is the sustainer of life and has provided for us from birth
Wabun, brother eagle from the east soars high carrying our prayers above the peaks
Shawnodese, brother coyote from the south, is the trickster and speaks from the mouth
Mudjewkeewis, brother bear from the west has strength like none of the rest
Waboose, brother buffalo from the north, with him there is unity
Strength in numbers, you see
And with the tribe there is an epiphany
We can learn from our ancestry
It will set us free
The Chanunpa is a sacred pipe, and is at the heart of life
Mitakuye Oyasin is all our relations
And they will reveal our revelations
There’s alot to say about the native way
It’s simple and is still being lived by today
So when you can, gather around a fire and sit
