The day started off the same as any other,
Then my world changed with the news from your mother.
Who knew this phone call would be the best I ever had,
When your mother told me I was going to be your dad.
She was on the way to the hospital and could not be late,
She said you were in a hurry and did not want to wait.
The anticipation was too much but my head was in a cloud,
I was going to be your father and I was so very proud!
When you read this don’t tell your mom but this really made my day,
I made it my goal to have “daddy” be the first word you say.
I want you to know before you were here I was already making plans,
What my first words to you are going to be when I hold you in my hands.
I also made you a promise I will give you my absolute all,
And you will never want for anything no mater how big or small.
I shed a tear on March 22^nd 2023,
I shed a tear of pride for you my son for everyone to see.
I know without a doubt whoever you choose to be you are going to be great,
Because the caliber of your blood puts you on a level all others ain’t.
I put my heart down in words so you will know how I feel,
That even before day one my love for you has been real.
I will always have your back and just like your name,
I will never leave your side they are one and the same…

On March 22^nd 2023 a good friend of mine in here became a father for the 1^st time. I took the emotions he was sharing with us and turned it into this, as a gift. His son’s name is Ryder.
