I have a friend on a distant land
Miles and miles of dirt and sand
Paper is the only way we know each other
I feel as though I’m a brother
Pictures and letters warm the heart
She’s been a friend from the start
I can talk to her as though she’s there
Because I know that she’ll care
She’s always been honest and true
I’ll not be so down and blue
Without a thought she gives her time
And she doesn’t ask for a dime
She’ll do all she can and doesn’t mind
A true friend is hard to find
Day after day she helps the ones she doesn’t know
Her golden heart will always show
I hope you’re blessed enough to have a friend on a distant land
That will always lend a helping hand
It’s been a long while
Since I’ve had a big smile
