As we gather to give thanks for the giving
To a long life and lots of living
We pile around the table for the feast
It’s very quiet as we devour the beast
Our glasses are filled to the rim with wine
It turns our cheeks all rosy and makes them shine
As the food is consumed and all is gone
It’s time to stretch out on the lawn
As you lay there and wonder how you ate all this
You smell the pie and say, how did I miss
So you get up to get some pie
And you know if you do, you will die
But you do it anyway
You tell the host you’re too full to drive and you have to stay
As you make your way down the hall
You plop down on the couch for some football
Not too long and you’re out like a light
All you know is you’re down for the night
