I’ve been serving time since I was 19 years-old. I grew up on one of the most corrupt cities and states in the country. Chicago politicians are some of the most corrupt individuals, judges, lawyers, politicians, cops, and correctional administrators, staff, ect. Are not different; just a different slicker bond of crooks. During my first bit, Officers at Statesville (including) brass, were caught robbing the inmate General Store. When I went to Menard on an “involuntary transfer” during the last year of my first bit, I was given a file by one of the inmate clerks documenting all the stuff administrators , and staff had stolen that was intended for inmates. I wrote 7 on your side back then and gave copies of the file to a board member of the John Howard Association. It’s ridiculous the amount of shit they’d stole.
Almost 50 years later still running scams at the taxpayers expense. They use to keep inmates on the rolls at the schools so they could continue to get federal funds even though 50 to 60 percent of the students dropped out within the first week if they came back at all. Every joint had commissary scams where they would overcharge inmates, a penny here, a nickel there, even a dollar at times. You do this on 3000 inmates every week, the money added up. Every kind of scam you can find on the street you can find within the prison environment.
The newest is the “carpal tunnel” syndrome. They just busted a doctor and several officers in Menard for filing false insurance claims for this carpal tunnel craze. You’ve had doctors over the years some who file claims for patients they never saw, just because they were here. The scams, thefts, skimming all part of the I.D.U.C frame work, and it continues to this day.
