My name is LeShun Smith. I’m a future survivor of incarceration. For years I’ve grappled with the title writer because I felt unworthy to carry that mantle. At my core, I’m just a person who can articulate my feelings and lived experiences well. I’ve been told my writing is evocative, provocative and expositive. And I have a relatable prose that draws the reader in. to me I’m just putting my words and thoughts on paper to get them out of my head. However, if my unique expressions can help heal, connect, or entertain people, then I’ll gladly contribute to that cause. As much as I run from it, writing happens to be my top go-to coping mechanism. Therapy, you could say. Better yet, my TRUTH!
