FREEDOM

Freedom. What a simple word, yet what a profound meaning its had through time. Today we know nothing of its meaning, though perhaps some may catch a glimpse of its beauty as their spirit brushes against its fringes on its never ending search for peace. Sadly, freedom is what was, not what is. I think of the many who gave their life for freedom, those who willingly surrendered their bodies for parade and mockery, torture and slavery, death, all on a hope of a chance that their people would be allowed to continue to possess freedom. The earth is saturated in freedom, for the blood of many who took up this standard spilled it willingly in every area where it was threatened. It is a standard among standards, one that need not be raised on pole or flag, for it lives in spiritual places, seen only by the spirit seeing. Sadness is a part of me, as it is for so many, for our physical freedoms are gone. We are no longer one with the earth, but we are instead separated from that which grew us, that which sustains us, that which our bodies shall return to. Only inside ourselves van we be free. It is freedoms last stand, our spirits last stand. Our loss there would be worse than all the freedom blood lost throughout time. So many have already laid freedom to rest today. Let your spirit sing to freedom, and raise its standard high and proud. Let it be precious.
